AP Exams
It's that time of year again. If you've been working hard and studying in those AP classes, this is your chance to shine and earn college credits. Here is the schedule:

Instrumental Music Presents: Around the World in One Night
Friday, May 18th at 7PM in the Performing Arts Center. This event will feature all of the instrumental ensembles including: Jazz Combo, Jazz Ensemble, Production Orchestra, Symphony Orchestra, Wind Symphony and Percussion Ensemble. There will be dancers from the dance department performing, as well as vocalist, Isabella Moore. The evening will end with a multi-media performance of Star Wars! Tickets are: $12 General Admission, $9 Boosters/ASB/Children 12 and under/Senior Citizens, and $5 for Students with ID.
Prom: A Black Tie Affair
Senior Class and ASB Presidents Savannah Geimer and Cora Richards cordially invite you to Prom 2012: A Black Tie Affair. Join with your fellow Seniors for one last celebration on May 19th, 2012 at the Sportsmen's Lodge, 4234 Coldwater Canyon Ave Studio City, CA 91604 from 7:00pm-11:00pm. Summer School registration application now available. For information and the application, download here. Counseling would prefer to have the application turned in by May 21, 2012 as the priority due date is May 25th. Those received after that date will be wait listed. Troubadour Trumpeter (Tooting Our Own Horn)
WASC Update
Hard work = Pay Day! The students at SSHS work hard. The staff at SSHS work hard. The community that supports SSHS works hard. The result? The Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) has awareded SSHS with the coveted 6 Year Accreditation! More proof that its great to be a Troubadour!
Santa Susana High School named Silver Medal School
US News and World Report has named Santa Susana High School on their annual list of Best High Schools in America. This year, we ranked 153 out of California's 2420 high schools, and 802 out of over 22,000 high schools across the United States. For more information, visit US News and World Report.
Lu Han Does it Again!
Congratulations to Lu Han, who has become a Finalist in the National Merit Scholarship Program. Students in 11th grade, when taking the PSAT, can qualify by earning a high score. Lu, now a Senior, was chosen originally from a candidate pool of 1.5 million students, narrowed down to 50,000 semi-finalists, and further narrowed to 16,000 finalists. We are so very proud of you, Lu!
Music in the Parks Competition
Congratulations to Mrs. Abbe and the Santa Susana Vocal Music Department. This past Saturday all four of the choirs participated in the "Music in the Parks" competition at Disneyland, and here were the results:
- Women's Choir Won First Place and received a Superior Rating
- Vocal Ensemble Won First Place and received a Superior Rating
- Jazz Choir Won First Place and received a Superior Rating
- Show Choir Won First Place and received a Superior Rating
- Esprit de Corps Award Was Awarded To Santa Susana High School
- Best Overall Choir Was Given To The Santa Susana Show Choir
- Best High School Vocalist Was Awarded to Lindsey Frey of the Santa Susana Jazz Choir
Amazing Troubadour Thespians!
Santa Susana was able to send eleven of our top thespians to the California State Thespian Festival this year. Congratulations to Troubadour Natasha Sill who came in first place in the Monolog Competition. Also, congratulations to Sarah Steiker, Juliet Delgado and Michael Kennedy for their third place performances in the Improvisational Category. Way to go!
SSHS blows the roof off last year's API goal!
The 2010-2011 API (Academic Performance Index) is in and SSHS increased by 27 points to an outstanding 866! This is a fantastic representation of the quality students and staff we have at SSHS! Congratulations to our students and school community!
